What dry eye really is

Dry eye happens when your eyes do not make enough tears, or the tears they make evaporate too quickly. It is one of the most common reasons people come in - and, left alone, it can make reading, screens, driving, and contact lenses genuinely uncomfortable.

Signs you might have it

  • A gritty, sandy, or burning feeling
  • Watery eyes - your eyes over-tear to compensate
  • Blur that clears for a moment when you blink
  • Eyes that feel tired or heavy by the end of the day
  • Contacts that do not feel as comfortable as they used to

We find the cause first

Dry eye is not one thing. It can come from the quality of your tears, the health of your eyelids and oil glands, allergies, certain medications, screen habits, or the environment. We look at what is driving yours before we treat it - because the fix is different for each.

Treatment built around you

Once we know the cause, we build a plan for it: the right approach for your tears and eyelids, help with allergies or lid disease when they are part of the picture, practical adjustments for screens and environment, and changes to your contact lenses if they are contributing. We follow up to make sure it is working - relief, not guesswork.

Why Bella Vision

Dry eye questions

How do I know if I have dry eye?

Common signs include gritty or burning eyes, watery eyes (reflex tearing), blur that clears when you blink, tired eyes by the end of the day, and contact lenses that feel less comfortable than they used to. A short exam can confirm it.

Will I just be handed eye drops?

No. Dry eye has many causes - tear quality, eyelid and gland health, allergies, medications, and screen habits - so we identify yours first and build a plan around it, rather than defaulting to a one-size-fits-all drop.

Can dry eye be cured?

For many people dry eye is a chronic condition we manage rather than cure, but the right, cause-based plan usually brings real, lasting relief. We set expectations honestly and follow up to keep you comfortable.

Can screens or contact lenses cause dry eye?

Yes. Long screen time reduces your blink rate, and some contact lenses or wear schedules worsen dryness. We factor both into your plan and can adjust your lenses if they are part of the problem.

Comfortable eyes are worth a visit.
